Yin and Yang 2

Kim is a true avant-garde, suggesting new visions of modernist art, throwing fundamental questions of what art is, and still showing dauntless creative will. The 1960s and the 1970, during which Kim Ku-lim was vigorously producing his works, were the heyday of modernism, as well as the era of paradigm shift where post-modernism was beginning to catch fire. New art is created in times of confusion and chaotic rupture, rather than that of stability or cosmic order. In such times, Kim Ku-lim marked an epoch in Korean art history by seeking a new but rocky road of art through anti-artistic criticism and introspection, fierce experimental spirit and the will to change.
